Spies And Commissars The Early Years Of The Soviet...
The political world paid a lot of attention to the events that took place during the Bolshevik Revolution of October 1917, which brought Russiaââ¬â¢s relationship with the West to a new level. The new communist regime attracted the attention of leaders throughout the world. In Robert Serviceââ¬â¢s book Spies and Commissars: the early years of the Russian revolution, the author guides the reader through the entire revolution and describes Westââ¬â¢s attitude towards the formation of new political ideology in Russia. Service shows how the West used actionable intelligence in hopes of undermining Bolsheviks and influencing their politics in the Eastern Europe. The Western Allies were ready to do what it takes to bring down Trotsky and Lenin. The British, French, Japanese and Americans had sent agents to gather intelligence, but they were too small to overthrow Lenin.
